AMBASSADOR
Nikon Ambassador
I’m so extremely proud to have been appointed as the first Nikon Europe Ambassador for Food Photography.
When I started photographing for my food blog, Eighty 20 Nutrition, nearly 7 years ago, I realised the value of powerful and strong images to attract readers and more importantly keep them on my website. With no formal training or qualification, just my passion for photography, I picked up my first Nikon (D7000) and started to play around with it. A whole world opened up to me and I was desperate to learn as much about food photography as I possibly could. I studied other photographers who’s work really inspired me, breaking it down into lighting, composition, angles and depth of field. My husband Derek, spent many hours explaining the exposure triangle to me, not being a technically minded, this turned into a tougher than expected challenge for him. Finally through hours of practising and trying and then trying again, the penny dropped and I got it!
Turning professional over 3 years ago was a turning point for me and at 45 years old I embarked on a whole new career and a new camera (D750). I started photographing cookery books, working with PR agencies and small brands helping them to build strong and recognisable imagery for campaigns and social media, whilst growing my own portfolio. Currently I use a Nikon D850 and Z7, and credit the mastery of the Nikon camera for giving me such beautiful saturation and clarity in my images.
Thank you Nikon for believing in me and putting food photography on the map. I look forward to our year ahead working with such an incredible brand and friendly staff.

Rotolight 'Master of Light'
Being a primarily natural light photographer, I really struggled to get beautiful lighting at certain times of the year in the UK, due to the weather. I was introduced to Rotolight and immediately started to work with the little Neo2, adding an extra pop of light to my sets. Once I mastered the settings and established the perfect kelvin for food, I was hooked. I’m so excited and honoured to become the newest member of their esteemed team of Masters of Light. Light is one of the most important mediums as a photographer, and without it my job becomes near to impossible. Thanks to Rotolight, I now never have to worry about losing light anymore (especially during those pesky winter months). Head to my 'Press' page to watch a few masterclasses on how I use my Rotolight gear, and click the link below to get some of your own and join me!
